A career spanning over ten years, songwriter and performer Rennie Adams has emerged as one of Australia’s most prolific and dynamic voices.
With a strong grasp on folk, blues and soul music, Rennie has been captivating audiences in Australia and abroad; a stage presence that has found critical acclaim as his profile has continued to grow.
Being introduced to the national consciousness in 2017 through a successful stint on The Voice, Rennie’s natural charm and talent as a performer translated from the competition’s stage to venues around the country with ease. The process was an opportunity for Rennie to showcase his vocal and artistic range but also, it provided an avenue for him to discover more about the artist he’d become in the years that would follow.
The momentum didn’t stop there with Rennie spending the following three years writing, recording and touring internationally. Fostering a creative relationship with award winning artist Seal during this time, he elevated his craft on international stages, touring with the award winning singer through North America and Canada - drawing rave reviews.
All the while, Rennie’s new music developed as a result of new experiences living on the road. Finding a particular rhythm as a musician and songwriter amid the waves of euphoria live touring brought, he began writing his debut EP project in London with Grammy winning producer and engineer Jim Lowe (Stereophonics).
With the onset of the global pandemic, Rennie returned to Australia, like many musicians. However, his creative drive has not slowed down. A new chapter for him awaits, and during this moment of forced pause on the live front, Rennie has been focused on continuing to write and document inspirations as they’ve come.
Since his return, Rennie has recorded his debut EP release in Sydney with producer Matt Stewart, the project mixed by Justin Stanley (Prince, Eric Clapton, Beck) and mastered at Studio301 by Steve Smart (Vance Joy, Midnight Oil). The five-track record oozes rich songwriting and tone. A classic soulful feel in the same vein as Allen Stone and John Legend meets textured arrangement and production that evoke the styles of artists as varied as Mayer Hawthorne and Samm Henshaw.
The EP is a particular point of vibrancy for Rennie - a moment for him to share with his fans that he is working on some of his most rejuvenated and galvanised material to date.
Rennie Adams is currently based in Sydney - though normally splitting time between his adopted homes of both Los Angeles and Nashville.
